Data Representation Binary

Previous Knowledge.

The last time I looked at a Binary problem was probably in 1999 when I did my BSc(Hons) in Computer Science. I just about remembered that it was O's and 1's.

Strengths.

I pick up things quickly and these can be re-enforced by using worksheet repetition.

Weaknesses.

Remembering how to convert to ASCII may take a little longer.

Current Knowledge.

Following the workshops I can now convert Denary to Binary. Also I can convert Hexadecimal and Octal to Denary as well as Hexidecimal and Octal to Denary.

Teaching Strategies and Ideas.

Give 5 people a card with the numbers 1,2,4,8,16 on. Say a set of numbers and get the students to work out which numbers are needed to make that number.

CD and Music- Reward good behaviour and working with choosing a winner each class that can bring in a CD to play next lesson.
